Vegan Vee is a vegan and gluten free bakery located in an unassuming little white building in Sylvan Park. They use primarily organic ingredients and no artificial colors or flavors. This is a MUST stop for those of us who are gluten free.
I found out about Vegan Vee a few months ago through a girl at my barre studio who has been gluten free for several years and I couldn’t wait to try it! Unfortunately, they are only open Friday through Sunday until early afternoon, so I don’t make it there often.
They sell a wide variety of items and it changes each day they are open. They always have an assortment of donuts, cupcakes, and muffins along with other baked goods.
As you can see, if you don’t get there early, they may be pretty much sold out when you arrive. I’ve made this mistake a couple of times and have to wait in line crossing my fingers that the items I want will still be there when the 6 people in front of me get their order in. Ha! I’ve always been able to score at least a few items and always something different than before.
On our most recent visit, we scored a double chocolate chip cookie and a vanilla cookie. The vanilla cookie was inhaled. It was the perfect chewy cookie and so simple!
We also got a vanilla cake donut with a dark chocolate glaze. They were just putting a tray of these out and the chocolate was still warm (hence the messy photo). Their cake donuts are really, really delicious. I’ve tried to Snickerdoodle and Lemon Blueberry flavors as well and they are all SO good. I know that cake donuts don’t always fit the bill for the people of the world who want a gluten free Krispy Kreme style donut. I understand, I’d love a light and fluffy donut like that, too. Reality is harsh sometimes and cake donuts are the gluten free option for us around town. 😉
For those of you who are looking for gluten free dessert options that you could serve at a dinner party or just enjoy yourself after a nice dinner, Vegan Vee is the place for that as well. Ever had the chance to enjoy a Nothing Bundt Cake before your gluten free life? If not, then you’ll never know what you might be missing and can instead enjoy the Vegan Vee version from the start. If you do know what those special bundt cakes taste like and sometimes feel a tinge of sadness when you drive by the store or see them served at gatherings, sad no more!! The Vanilla Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake from Vegan Vee is a delicious dessert (or snack) and totally satisfies a bundt cake hankering. 🙂 It’s a great dessert to share as well. I found half of it was plenty for me.
I’m pretty convinced that there are few things better in life than a 100% dedicated gluten free bakery. Make it vegan and I’m doubly impressed. Get to Vegan Vee ASAP and let me know what you think!
